Adios

since i'm leaving to spend six weeks in Barcelona, i thought i'd post a video from the band I'm from Barcelona. the band has 29 members, all of which are from Sweden, not Barcelona. hopefully i'll get a chance to check them out at Lollapalooza later this summer in Chicago. here's their biggest hit, "we're from Barcelona."

Album of the Week

after five long years and the loss of an original member, Maroon 5 is finally back with It Won't Be Soon Before Long. after many listens, i've decided it was worth the wait. here's the video for the first single and a link where you can hear the whole album a week before it's out.

"makes me wonder"

Dear Sister, pt. 2

after SNL's Dear Sister parody of the OC, countless more versions have popped up all over the internet, all including Imogen Heap's (formely of Frou Frou) "Hide and Seek." WARNING: includes spoilers for the Departed, the Matrix, and Seinfeld (?):

Dear(ly) Departed

Cool Car Commercials

here are some really cool ads, both made by Honda. in the first one, all of the items used are parts of the car and that was all done in one take. in the second one, all of the noises are made by the people. enjoy.

Dear Sister

couldn't we just let the OC die peacefully without making even more fun of it? SNL created a digital short (the only good thing about that show anymore) making fun of the over dramatic nature of the epic ryan/trey/marissa battle. here's the original scene from the show:

and here's SNL's "Dear Sister," guest starring Shia Lebeouf (who is the star of the number one movie in America... weird)

thanks to Taylor D. for the tip

The King Of Covers

thought i'd share some vidoes of Matt Weddle from the band Obadiah Parker doing some amazing covers that rival the originals. i've included the originals for comparison.

"hey ya!" as preformed by Andre "Ice Cold" 3000

"idioteque" as preformed by Radiohead

obviously, no one can touch Thom Yorke, but i almost prefer the "Hey Ya" cover.
i've decided to dedicate a blog to the three things that i feel i have the most insight in: music, advertising and television. to give a preview of my tastes in these, i've posted one of my favorite commercials, two of the best scenes in television and two of my favorite current music videos. enjoy.

this commercial is for Volkswagen and involves Gene Kelly picking up some new moves

this clip is from the season 2 Nip/Tuck finale and is one of the hugest TWISTS and best produced segments in television. don't watch if you plan on watching season 2, which builds up to one of the two best season finales in television.

this clip is hard to describe, but it comes from the classic 1980s television show Twin Peaks, which was from the demented mind of David Lynch. it's often said that Twin Peaks was a pioneer for Lost and other shows that keep you guessing to the point that you hate it. in this scene Agent Coooper has a dream that gives hints that eventually lead to him solving the murder. let's rock!

for some reason i can't stop listening to "We Takin' Over." it's produced by DJ Khaled and features Akon, T.I., Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Baby and the greatest rapper alive (Lil' Wayne, of course). the video is pretty bad ass and reminds me of the Hypnotize video. i'm mainly just surprised that he was able to get all these rappers together at the same time.

my other favorite music video out right now is "Read My Mind" by the Killers. it's fun to watch them mess with these Japanese people, especially the group of schoolkids. also, Brandon Flowers is the damn man and i can't wait to see them again in Barcelona.

there's a taste of what's to come. let me know if you have any cool videos i should put up that deal with music, advertising or TV.
